Oxygen treatment

When we breathe we bring oxygen into the blood stream through the lungs. Normally, we are not conscious of breathing but it is so essential to life that if we stop we soon run into difficulties. Oxygen is absorbed from the air and carried in the blood stream with the aid of the heart to all parts of the body where it is essential for cell life and damage repair. The oxygen treatment we offer at the centre is designed to optimise the oxygen uptake in the blood.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is not a cure for MS.

Physiotherapy cannot change the disease process.

Physiotherapy can help with some symptoms but not all symptoms. At the centre I will see people that are quite newly diagnosed, at any time during the progression, right up to when people are severely disabled and totally dependant. For newly diagnosed people I will give advice about exercising and teach some basic stretches that it is beneficial to get into the practise of doing.

Reflexology

Many people with MS want to augment any medical help they are getting with the benefits of a complimentary therapy. The therapy that a large number of people with MS find most beneficial is reflexology. This is a natural therapy practised in Egypt and China. It originated more than 4,000 years ago and is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands that correspond to every organ, gland and structure of the body. Gentle pressure is applied to the reflex points by the therapist’s hands to promote balance and harmony in all systems. Reflexologists do not diagnose but work with their clients to energise and rejuvenate the whole body, mind and spirit through the reflexes on the feet.
