Fundraising started early in 1983 to buy the equipment needed to provide this service locally in Aberdeen and, in November 1983, we opened our existing premises in Dyce. Gradually, the addition of more therapy space and available funding has allowed us to employ three staff and provide a range of other therapies to help people with MS to cope with their condition.
Current running costs are about £95,000 a year, which is all raised voluntarily from members, the public and the generosity of local businesses.
Staff and therapists
We currently employ three staff - Eileen, our centre manager, Gordon, our centre assistant and Linda, our physiotherapist. In addition, we provide regular sessions of reflexology and massage.
Governance and trustees
The therapy centre is run by a company limited by guarantee, which has a small elected group of trustees. It is also a charity registered in Scotland (SC007647) and a member of the MS National Therapy Centres, which provides standards for the way we conduct service delivery to our clients.
Membership currently costs £10 per annum and is open to anyone who wishes to join.
We have opportunities available if you wish to help us by providing assistance to our fundraising committee, helping out with administration or becoming a chamber operator. If you wish to help us, please contact us for further information.
